The Ultimate Children's Guide to Martial Arts
All to often as soon as it hits the weekend we see millions of children from all over the US slip back in to the habit of sitting inside and playing on their various computer games. At Martial Arts Near You we believe it's important for children to FEELGOOD and make the most of their time outside of the classroom. One of the best ways to do this is joining a martial arts class, they can get active and learn something new.

Why should children go to martial arts classes?

Health guidelines recommend that children between the ages of 5 and 18 should partake in physical activity for at least 60 minutes a day. Recently, a study discovered that over 75% of children weren't even exercising for half of this recommended time. It can be a challenge to separate your kids from their gadgets, that's why you need something exciting and engaging to drag them away. Martial Arts is perfect for this!

How does martial arts benefit children?

Activity: Professional martial artists are considered to be some of the fittest athletes in the circuit. This is because martial arts is a whole body work out. It's not all about bulky strength, it helps to tone and strengthen muscles, improve agility as well as improving posture and flexibility. Martial Arts is also a great instigator for child weightless and improving stamina.

Conflict Resolution: People mistake martial arts for being an aggressive sport. Martial Arts instructors teach their that outside the gym, a physical alteration should never be provoked. Having the skill to best someone in a fight, gives the student a sense of responsibility. They don't need to prove themselves, they've done that in their grading.

Focus: One of the biggest benefits to children is the focus it develops. It offers them the opportunity to step away from distractions, relax and focus their minds. Martial Arts classes are free from distractions such as loud music and televisions. The focus that is developed in the Dojo can be transferred to other sports and school. Focus is a life lesson that can be beneficial everywhere.

Fun and Social: Probably the most important reason to attend a class.. It's a great oppurtunity to interact with other like minded children and develop their social skills.

Self Respect and Self Confidence:There is no better way to boost your confidence than push yourself out of your comfort zone and to succeed. Martial Arts gives your child the oppurtunity to progress through gradings which is a good way to track progress and boost confidence. Of course, martial arts doesn't come without a sense of humility.. there is always a bigger fish!
